Liz Greenfield

Licensed Clinical Psychologist, PhD.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in conducting diagnostic evaluations for neurodevelopmental disorders and supporting caregivers to promote their child’s social communication and emotion regulation skills. I received my doctorate in counseling, clinical, and school psychology, clinical emphasis, at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2020. I went on to complete my doctoral internship at the UNC Chapel Hill TEACCH Center, and then my postdoctoral fellowship at the Marcus Autism Center.

Prior to transitioning into private practice, I served as Assistant Professor within the Emory University Department of Pediatrics and was Program Manager for the Marcus Autism Center’s diagnostics department. In this role, I helped lead a team of psychologists to provide autism evaluations and conducted research on early characteristics of autism in infants who have a family member on the spectrum. Clinically, I specialized in working with children who have complex medical histories, including conducting multidisciplinary evaluations with CHOA’s NICU follow-up program. I also provided consultation in collaboration with the Department of Public Health to promote evidence-based practice within Georgia’s state Early Intervention program, Babies Can’t Wait.

I have spent much of my career devoted to naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions, or NDBI’s, an approach that involves tapping into a child’s own motivation and interests to help support their development. Specifically, I am trained in Pivotal Response Treatment and am a certified Project ImPACT coach. Each of these approaches are designed to support children to learn to communicate, interact, and play with others in new ways. I am passionate about providing neurodiversity-affirming care that aligns with my patient’s goals and values.

I live in Atlanta, Georgia with my husband (and colleague!) Jeff Greenfield and my 1-year-old daughter Nora, french bulldog Bowie, and cat Olly. When not working, I enjoy exploring Atlanta’s parks, restaurants, and breweries with my family.
